A Wonderful African Safari Afloat A Hot Air Balloon With Remarkable Views Of The Savanah Packed With Wild Animals.
An African safari is not complete without taking a flight on a hot air-driven balloon.
In 1976, Alan Root and his wife Joan- wildlife film producers, utilized a hot air-driven balloon to shoot movie clips of wildlife. It was trouble-free, to use the balloon to reach areas where a car was unable to access, to shoot lovely aerials of wildlife.

Afloat, we have a clear eagle's eye scenery of the expanse of the Masai Mara and the Serengeti Parks stretching to the extent where the eye can perceive. It looks endless.
We take 90 degrees angle and beneath we sight the heads of giraffes through the canopy of acacia bushes as they feed on the foliage, scarcely acknowledging us moving in the air in the sky above.
After approximately one hour adrift, the flight comes to an end with a bouncy landing bringing us back to the ground. At this point we crawl out of the carrier to a champagne breakfast. The splendor is that this breakfast occurs in the wild, wherever you land, and it's cooked as you watch with the burners that moments before kept you suspended in the air. What a way to commence our morning safari!

"What surprises a good number of first-time balloonists is the absolute stillness, the silence as you float about the savanah, the forest and the rivers of the Masai Mara. The noises underneath drift clearly up-wards: a lion's bellow, elephants crashing through the bush, baboons perched on the tips of the trees and shrubs. If you're fortunate you will climb high above for the scene of a life-time. " the captain offers.
After year end rains, the vegetation is lush green as we drive back to our lodge observing wildlife en-route. It is such a contrast as these are the same grasslands which, in November, were golden, parched and hash.
Unexpectedly we encounter a mother cheetah marking her tree, spraying it with urine. Once executed, she checks our troupe and then makes a soft chirping sound as she proceeds on her way through the thicket. Very likely she is looking for her cubs.
The grasslands are swarming with elephants, buffaloes, topi, wildebeests and other antelopes and the sight is just wonderful.
